CHARACTER INFO
Name: Vriska Serket
Journal: [personal profile] vilevilescorpio
Canon: Homestuck
Reference: http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/Vriska_Serket
Race: Human
Age/DOB: 16, born November 2nd

Current morphs: NOT YET, vriska is most likely to go for the MOST BADASS THING SHE CAN FIND but in her heart she is a hyena and we all know it

Appearance: Tall and bony with a pointy face, big wire framed glasses, and a waist-length mess of unruly black hair that she doesn't brush enough. She wears blue makeup a lot of the time but is not particularly well groomed or snappily dressed. She always wears red sneakers.

History: Vriska does not have as fascinating or complicated a history as her canon counterpart. She was raised by a single mother, who is very successful, and Vriska looks up to her tremendously and is determined to follow in her footsteps but secretly scared that she won't be able to. Despite being the kind of parent whose affection and approval is contingent on her child's success and achievements, Vriska's mother also never discouraged her from throwing her weight around with other children when she was small, because obviously she'd need to be confident if she was going to succeed as an adult She's always been all too content to wave Vriska being a shitty bully off as her being ~confident and ~self-assured – if anything she encourages it – even though Vriska's gross behaviour is really more rooted in insecurity than confidence.

This is a shame, because over the years Vriska has made life miserable for a number of other kids. She has pretty much always been a bully, but particularly of note is the time when she was in middle school and she got one of her friends paralysed from the waist down by pushing him off something after her goading failed to convince him to jump it himself. Vriska refused to take actual responsibility for the accident and was dismissive about the seriousness of the whole deal, and consequently their mutual friends stopped talking to her altogether. To this day she persists in basically perceiving their refusal to hang out with her as a sort of unfair punishment that is being exacted on her for what she did, rather than, say, them having too much of a problem with what a douche she is to want to associate with her. Instead of trying to change her ways and make amends, she just carried the bitter resentment away with her and went to make new friends, like her snotty rich kid LARP pal (and occasional date when it's convenient), Eridan Ampora, who is just as much of a shitwipe as she is and doesn't make her feel bad for knocking other people down for her own benefit. Honestly she thinks she deserves better company than Eridan, but he actually wants to spend time with her and most other people don't, and although she doesn't like to admit it she'll take what she can get.

Personality: Vriska is really selfish and really insecure. She puts on a pretty convincing arrogant front but if you push the right buttons her insecurities are pretty easy to see. Don't confuse her with the kind of person who's sad inside and acts out because she thinks she has to be tough – she does think she has to be tough and she'd be more balanced if she allowed herself not to be more often, but her essential nature, underneath all the big talk and bullying, is still self-centred and inconsiderate. She's simultaneously convinced that she deserves to step on other people to get to the top and worried that if she doesn't do that she will have failed. Basically she has some pretty deep seated issues but she's still fundamentally a huge tool.

She moves through life as if she is the protagonist and everyone else is a supporting character – which to her means that their feelings, motivations, etc. are basically irrelevant except as far as they revolve around her. As seen with her friends' reactions to the accident she caused, she defaults to thinking about it in terms of what she assumes they are trying to make her feel, rather than what feelings they might have been having. This is pretty exemplary of her attitude to others. She doesn't want to stop to really think about other people's feelings because then she might have to admit she fucked up, and her pride won't let her do that.

She isn't as awful as her canon counterpart just because however bad a parent her mother is she doesn't condone murder – Alternamorphs Vriska has never murdered anyone (yet), just made a lot of other kids cry. Like her canon counterpart, however, she will leap at the opportunity to play the hero. Playing is exactly what it is, though. Vriska is into heroics for the glory and nothing else. Sure, she doesn't always need an audience, although it's nice, but the personal fulfilment she gets out of heroic shit is based less on having done the right thing and more like feeling as if she is the hero. Anything that can make her feel more justified in acting like she's the main character of this story! If she can't be the hero herself, in a given situation, she'll try to insinuate herself into a mentor role for someone she thinks does have the potential to be the hero – if someone's going to be a star, she wants to be responsible.

On that note, Vriska will be completely fucking delighted to be an ~animorph~. Delighted. As I've discussed with VV she'll be bullying her way onto the team after finding out that Eridan is involved in this, because how could something as cool as this be going on without her?? Because that's what she'll think this is: cool. She's much more excited about getting to do badass shit than she is worried about the implications of a successful Yeerk invasion – her attitude is win or die trying, in the most obnoxious way possible.

Abilities & Limitations: Vriska is really good at hitting people with a foam sword?? Good at winning onlime MMOs? Hm. Well, she has very few compunctions with violence, which will, I guess, take some of the angst pressure off her involvement in guerrilla warfare. Apart from that, though … she is just personality weaknesses all the way down. She's not a bad strategist, but she's dysfunctionally self-absorbed, and will almost always favour strategy options that put her in centre stage or let her take the lead regardless of other factors. She's terrible at learning from her mistakes, terrible at considering other people's feelings – she likes to see herself as good at being manipulative, but she's really not as great at it as she'd like to think. In fact she's pretty easily manipulated herself if you know what buttons to push.

Plus she is short sighted and she is going to be fucked in that regard until she learns how to morph contact lenses.

AU Explanation: Being a human instead of a troll changes quite a bit in terms of Vriska's willingness to just murder the heck out of everybody – as a human Vriska will still be pretty ready to accept that war comes with casualties, and as long as they're not her or people she cares about she can justify them fairly easily, she is going to seem pretty fucking callous, but as a troll she considers murdering people who inconvenience her basically her right, so, you know, that's pretty drastically diminished. Like, she has killed hundreds of people in canon and 0 people in this AU.
She is also a little bit better groomed and dressed on account of the fact that her mother buys her clothes rather than leaving her to wear the exact same shabby jacket for years.

Character Relations: Her mother Aranea Serket is her only family member; she never knew her father and has never felt any strong compulsion to find out who he is. Her mom is so great. She doesn't need a dad.

Her circle of friends and acquaintances is basically the troll kids and their parents, I don't think I need to list them all, but the ones she spends the most time talking to are Eridan, who is not an NPC, obviously, and Kanaya, a childhood friend whose crush on her Vriska is cheerfully oblivious to. She is probably not a controller at this point, although I would not put joining the Sharing past Kanaya "Lonely Sad Gay" Maryam, really. Occasionally she hassles the kids she fucked over in middle school but Tavros and Terezi and Aradia super do not want anything to do with her.

The Invasion: Vriska is pretty fortunate in that her mother generally lets her do whatever the fuck she wants as long as it doesn't inconvenience her personally – Serket Senior isn't directly controlling at all, being of the opinion that trying to impede Vriska's freedom would stifle her independence and confidence. This lets Vriska get away with quite a lot in terms of sneaking around, borrowing money, and staying out late. This is subject to change, of course, if she is ever made a controller; while she's far too confident and self assured herself to fall victim to the Sharing, she's successful enough that she might be a target for forced infestation. For the time being, though, Vriska can get away with a lot.
